| Located in downtown San Diego, the East Village Design Center includes a master plan for the adaptive reuse of two historic warehouses into furniture showrooms as well as the construction of two new high-rise residential loft buildings. Together, the furniture and residential buildings will define a new neighborhood located immediately east of the new Padres Ballpark and new main library. The master plan uses the proposed “tail-gate park,” a surface parking lot being by the Padres, as a central focus for the project as well as a source for shared parking. The two historic warehouses have been placed on the National Register of Historical Places and these unadorned spaces will provide a dramatic setting for the cutting-edge contemporary home furnishings. |
