| Westside Market Hall is an alternative retail development conceived as a catalyst for commercial growth in the emerging Culver City, utilizing a market hall concept with specialty local food vendors and restaurants at ground level with office space and residential included. A central enclosed courtyard is a key feature of the site allowing for open public space and a "stair mountain" to encourage a sense of community and interactivity with the courtyard's use as a Farmers' Market on the weekend. The study included a scale and building typology comparison with an overlay of existing Bay Area market halls that led to the market hall program being creatively site adapted to the Culver City site. |
