Kolkata, India - The new town of Rajarhat is poised to emerge as one of India's newest planned high-tech areas. JRDV has been selected to begin design of one of the first mixed-use retail destinations in the downtown area. The project is designed to create an urban place focused on a network of pedestrian scaled streets and plazas. The design will create a powerful new retail type for the India market. It will also establish a new retail brand that can compete with much larger malls that have been established in India.
Oakland, CA - The Oakland Arts and Entertainment District in downtown Oakland has become one of the hip urban entertainment locations in the Bay Area. The district is anchored by the Oakland Fox Theater, which has become a preferred music venue in Northern California. JRDV has been selected to design the first major retail and entertainment expansion to the district since the Fox Theater opened in 2009. The Fox Block will add a creative program of new tenants as well as needed parking into this market, enhancing the emerging club and theatre street life in the district.

JRDV's latest retail center in Morelia, Mexico, Paseo Altozano, is now nearing construction completion. It is the largest retail center currently under construction in the Americas, and includes 120,000 m2 of anchored retail, food, entertainment, cinema, and hotel. Paseo Altozano is designed to dramatically change the way public spaces in retail centers are designed and experienced. The project is designed to create a unique urban pedestrian experience that is capable of dramatically expanding the customer base and provide a unique customer experience in the Mexican market today.
