| Fidenza Village, an overall development that will eventually include 22,000 m2 of retail and mixed uses and features one of the most imaginative shopping environments in Europe is based on an invented history. The story of Fidenza village describes the successive constructions and interventions that led to the conversion of an 18th century estate into a 20th century film studio which created productions of Verdi operas. The story ends with the conversion of the film studio into an upscale regional retail center. Studio Centrale represents the estate's original residence, later converted to an administration building, which now houses the management offices, public services and a restaurant. The "sound stages" built for interior film production, and "stage sets" used for exterior film production of Verdi's operas, provide key themes in the conversion from film studio to retail use.
