| JRDV working with Communication Arts created a master plan for the historic Eisden Mine replacing its scarred landscape with new recreation, shopping, entertainment residential and cultural uses that will also serve as the entry to the Hoge Kempen National Park, the largest national park in all of Europe. The development of the historic former Eisden coal mine with new park and urban uses includes preserving historical buildings as well as creating a new urban fabric that will unify several existing surrounding areas with a common commercial focus. The development provides a number of activity options and will attract a range of visitors wishing to experience different types of activities during a day or over a longer stay. Visitors will also be able to explore a network of cycle trails and interactive and passive educational features throughout the site that will teach about sustainable design and the importance of the natural world.
