JRDV Architects worked with Clif Bar and Co to study the possibility of the relocation of their company headquarters to the office levels over the Westfield Center retail center in Downtown San Francisco. This included working with Clif Bar to understand their needs for the new space and new programs as well as connecting with the company's roots. As such, the project demonstrated how to accommodate the short term and long term plans for expansion keeping its non-conformist, informal character and allowing flexibility that would permit experimentation. The design concept utilized the dome as an exterior area serving as the nucleus for several work and non-work related activities, including a climbing wall, exterior work area and open air circulation.
